A week in School

thoughts of MiLeT @ Thursday, June 24, 2010 0 comments

The little girl’s uniform were not yet released. The chef’s uniform is there already but the Teacher has not yet given them to us. So everyday she comes to school wearing her usual clothes. Good thing she has a lot (majority of it are hand me down from her older cousins) ;).

Look at her…

Kumon Workbooks

thoughts of MiLeT @ Thursday, June 24, 2010 1 comments
I have been hearing a lot of good feedback about Kumon Workbooks. Since this workbooks were designed after the principle of Kumon so it's not surprising that they really are a big help for both mommies and their kids. So I was so happy to have seen this workbook in NBS Cubao. After months of searching for the books that are applicable to Anevay's age finally I was able to get a copy. I was already decided to get them because I found out that they are also Amazon books. Good thing I was able to get it at NBS. And then, I got the idea to asked for help from the website of NBS. You see I wanted two more workbooks which are not available in the Cubao Branch. I sent an email to NBS, they responded. They have the said book in their Ermita branch and they have reserved it for me. Since the branch is too far, I called their customer service. They have agreed to ship it to the nearest branch. ;)

1st Day

As I expected, the independent little girl never look back when she entered her school. I was just there taking pictures while waiting for her. And I am so happy to see her enjoying. She was even singing a new song when she arrived home.

Before the school bus arrived.

I am really hoping and working hard to make sure she would move up the next level on September. I know it will entail a lot of hard work but she is really looking forward to learn.

Collect and collect

Really my fascination with jewelries is something I think that I have inherit from my mother. I share this fascination with my older sister and together we are starting to collect every pieces we find interesting. We were discussing that in the future when we go back to Kuwait, I should start to buy gold coins. Based on what I read at usgoldbureau.com, I am more and more convince that instead of using money to buy clothes, bags and shoes, I would be wise and start investing through gold. I am currently saving so that when I go back to the country where my husband works I would definitely be able to have a gold shopping spree.

Her School

And so last Tuesday we started schooling. I hired a school bus, whose rate is much lower than the one we used last year. And I was surprised really that we really have a small population. Well, as my sister would say not all can afford the tuition fee of the school. But I guess, it’s because it’s still on the starting point. It’s there first year of operation. Let me give  you a tour.

The oven is the same height as the toddlers. And Anevay has a chef’s uniform. haha. I am looking forward to see her development under the teaching method of the school. Come September, she would have assessment to see if she can go up the next level.

Second Time

thoughts of MiLeT @ Thursday, June 17, 2010 2 comments

It was our second time to go to school. I should not be excited anymore but the truth is, I am more excited this year than last year. I don’t know. But I am truly looking forward to seeing how Anevay would develop through the teaching method of her new school.

But before that let me enumerate why we decided to transfer the little girl to a new school. We are the first batch of enrollees. Well, the previous school where she was enrolled has a good feedback on the internet. According to the feedback, it is a good progressive school. Having that I thought that it was really progressive. Which as the school year goes, I realized that their teaching method is now bent on being traditional. Why? Because with a large number of student per class the students ( in Anevay’s class they are 16 with two teacher and one assistant) and some toddlers are still on their crying stage, the attention they give to their students is not adequate.

As early as February, when I see their teaching method I was already contemplating on transferring Anevay. And I am really happy to have found this school that based on what I see ( on their facilities) they really are using the progressive/montessorri approach. Hopefully they would be true to their promise to me.

College Degree

thoughts of MiLeT @ Friday, June 11, 2010 0 comments
We all strive to give the best for our kids. We want to make sure that they would have a bright future. And so we look for the best institution for them that can give them good education. Sometimes, it's confusing what to choice, right? Like me, I tend to look for all the available options and that's the reason why I decided to transfer her to a new school. Well, I guess some parents go through this confusion like mine especially those with kids who are entering college. Good thing, you can research college degrees online. collegedegreestoday.com website was designed to make sure that searching through college would be convenient. You look into the site to see which college offers the degree you want.

Early Night

I slept at 2am today. I don't know. I can't find sleep at that time. Then by 8am, the little girl is already awake. I wanted to sleep again but decided to go to the grocery. I cooked lunch. Then bathe, then we head to Kumon. While the little girl was having her sessions, I went for a ventosa and a massage. IT's the best thing I did for today.

When I went back to the center, two mommy friends were already there. We chat for a while and we went home. Now, I am so sleepy but I wanted to finished all my online task. The little girl is also telling me that she is tired. So, I guess we will have an early night.

Watching

Because of the health scare I experienced in Kuwait and with the limitations that it bring me, I am now really bent on staying fit and healthy. I watched what I eat and I make sure I get a lot of rest. I also move around a lot and now I am looking for effective best ab workout that would help me. I really want to lose weight you know. And this time I mean it. I also told the husband to keep on pushing me to do so. You see my husband is not a man who demands you to do things. But I told him that I need his help so that I can motivated. With him, reminding me every now and then to stay on track to my goal.

Ready?

thoughts of MiLeT @ Friday, June 11, 2010 0 comments
I have already attended two school activities. One was last Saturday which was the Parent's Orientation. The husband would like to attend too but unfortunately if he rebooked the next available flight would be June 16. During the orientation we were given the SCHOOL'S HANDBOOK, A NOTEBOOK (which will served as the means of communication between the parents and teachers), and A CALENDAR (where they put in the school activities).

And then yesterday, three teachers came as part of their HOME visit activity. We took pictures which will be posted on the school board. There is a banquet tonight as a Thanksgiving but I opted not to attend because I am really too tired. I wanted to rest for while. Which is I think a good decision because right now I am so sleepy. The little girl is too. She is telling me that she too is tired. haha.

Oh Man!

So many things to do. I am not sure if I can accomplish them all since next week would be school time already. The husband is asking me to look into the social security disability insurance and also a lot of things. I wanted to make sure I have made all of this before November, our plan to fly to Kuwait again. Of course, while doing all that I also need to find a way to save and generate some funds for airfare. Wehehe. That means less shopping. But it's okay. If it means, we would be family again. I am missing my husband now. Well, he is one busy person. And tomorrow he will on the airplane again for his training. hmm. We should have been with him. But of course, I got sick. So for now my top most priority is to be healthy.

New School

thoughts of MiLeT @ Friday, June 11, 2010 0 comments
I am quite surprised that I have not blog about Anevay transferring to a new school for this school year. Yeah, we decided that for her own good we would try the new Montessori school near us. Even before school closes I was already thinking of transferring because I am not comfortable with the numbers of student in the class. Imagine, for Nursery, Anevay has 15 classmates. They are being taught by two teacher and an assistant. I am not sure if all were given attention. And I think it's not fair for the kids to be in the crowded room and the parents paying a high fee.

So when a mommy friend told me about this school, the husband and I checked it out. And we were quite impressed. True, it's a new school, we are its first batch of enrollees. But with a small number of students I am convinced they can give the right attention to the kids. And I like that they adapted everything from Maria Montessori. I am just praying that they would live up to our expectation.

online advertising is a good way to promote one's business and definitely would boost its success. But one has to make a careful study as to which agency to handle their advertising because the one they work with will make or break their business. And also try to look for an agency which has good support system and superb customer feedback like simply.com.

How can you be sure that your water is clean? Well, for one you can use a water filter pitcher. Using this product would ensure that almost all contaminants are removed and it’s also saves time. Such a big convenience for a mom like me who always want to make sure that we give our best to our family. http://www.portaldaciencia.com/?p=275&cpage=2#comment-3469

Investing in Gold

thoughts of MiLeT @ Saturday, June 05, 2010 0 comments
One of the most memorable experience I have in our vacation in Kuwait is when I go to the mall that sells a lot of gold. On my first trip to that place I was so tempted to buy gold bullion as a remembrance. haha. But of course, I can't afford the bullion at that time and I was there to just shop for simple jewelries to give to my nieces and sister. But I cannot stop talking about what I saw. The husband was so amused that he took me again to that same store the next week. And because of that trip I was convinced that instead of using my money on bag, clothes and shoes that worn out over time I would just divert my money to buying god. So next time I will be in Kuwait, expect me to have some gold shopping spree. haha.

Sleepy @ 1:30am

thoughts of MiLeT @ Saturday, June 05, 2010 0 comments
I am now sleepy but I have to finished one more task before I go to bed. I don't know if I can sleep well tonight since it's the husband's flight. Every time he is on trip I cannot really sleep well. Then I also have problems sleeping because of my health. But I need to rest now because tomorrow will be our parent's orientation. I have not filled up the sheets yet and I am planning to do that early morning. Hopefully I wake up in good shape. Or else I'll attend the meeting limping. haha.

My LIttle Doctor

At an early age, I guess Anevay realized that her mommy is not like other moms. She got a mom that got sick most of the time and would spend hours of the morning in bed. Because of this and because of the husband's constant reminder of her taking care of mommy, she become so responsible for her age. When she sees me in bed, she would just play beside me and she will do it quietly as possible. If she sees me crying, she would readily give me a hug, comfort me by rubbing her hands on my back up and down ( the way her daddy does) and would say don't worry mommy avey's here. She is really a blessing.

I don't know what I did right in my life, but thank you Lord for giving me a loving husband and a good daughter.
