FunnY!

thoughts of MiLeT @ Sunday, August 31, 2008 1 comments
I just have to blog about this.

My brother in law was craving for a Wendy's salad while my sister like to drink Wendy's ice tea. There isn't a Wendy store nearby so our only hope is to have the food delivered to us.

My sister asked me for the number and I told her its 533 - 8888. If you are familiar with the delivery number of fast food chains, you knew that I gave the wrong number. But unfortunately no one noticed. I even googled the number.

So my sister called the number I gave her. And then she was asking if their salad is available. It seems that my sister and the agent of the fast food are having a hard time understanding each other. Until finally my sister told her that we are looking at the menu in their website. I am not sure how the agent from the other line figure out that my sister called the wrong number.

Instead of calling Wendys (533-3333) she called Kenny Rogers (533-8888) and its all my fault. lol. I was laughing so hard.

In the end we ordered our salad from Shakeys. lol.

Trade Shows

thoughts of MiLeT @ Sunday, August 31, 2008 0 comments
I have been to too many trade shows. Sometimes I am impressed, sometimes I am not. I realized through all the times that I have been going to these shows that the overall design largely affect the sucess of the trade show exhibits.

If there would come a time that I would be an organizer of a trade show I would definitely be picky with the table covers and table top display because I know this are one of the factors that would make or break a show.

And when it comes to top notch and affordable trade show exhibits CAMELBACK DISPLAY is a dependable name you can count. Last year they have served around 4000 customers ranging from fortune 500 to small businesses. These only goes to show that you are in good hands when you choose them.

Why I removed my EnterCard widget ?

thoughts of MiLeT @ Sunday, August 31, 2008 0 comments
I already wrote here about how Entrecard dropping increases bounce rate. And that bounce rate according to many affects your page ranking.

Okay for clarity, bounce rate is created when an EC dropper drop his/her card and then close his/her internet browser. You can see whose visits bounces by checking the time spent on your blog. If your are using sitemeter for your site, go see the list of your visitors by referral. Here is an example :

Number 30 visit is referred to by entrecard and the tool tip shows the details. The visitor's ISP is pldt and it only viewed 1 page and stayed for 00:00. That's already a bounce rate. And checked all visits referred by entrecard and you will see this kind of visits.

My other blog is already attracting a lot of visitors and I don't need visitors whose visit bounces so I removed my EC widget. And I decided to do it on this blog as well. I will just participate on memes. At least majority of the participants on meme leave comments so there won't be bounces.

P.S. Staying on the site for a few seconds does not mean your drop does not bounce. YOU HAVE TO CLICK SOMETHING ON THE BLOG, another page or the comment link, any internal link to avoid bounces. Just in case you don't know a high bounce rate affects your google and alexa rating.

Oh, by the way, its not only EC drops that increases bounce rate do you know that messages in the CBOX no matter how long also causes bounce rate ?

How do you Choose Your Template ?

thoughts of MiLeT @ Sunday, August 31, 2008 0 comments
For this week, I was busy changing my template here and my other blog. This one is powered by blogger and the other one is powered by wordpress. So I have to see two sets always. lol. And I also don't like duplicate templates in my blogs.

I have been able to look through 3000+ wordpress template but none pleases me until I remember I did not look into eblogtemplates. There I find the template I wanted. But I was thinking how come it took me so long to find templates that suits my taste ? Well, because I have to consider the following.

1. I don't like dark templates. I don't know why but I just don't like the aura.
2. It should have minor graphics or no graphics at all. Based on my experience sometimes the graphic distract your readers and its really take long to load. Meaning, the template with heavy graphics will shoo your readers away.
3. And lastly, now, I don't like templates with a lot of advertising banners in them. I know in the past I put on something in my templates but I realized its not at all appealing.
4. It should mirror my blog's subject and would attract browsers to stay a little bit longer and read my entries.
5. It should be simple and elegant to my eyes.

So now you know why I have the templates I have in my blog.

Blogging 101 : Submit Your SiteMap

thoughts of MiLeT @ Saturday, August 30, 2008 0 comments
After putting some entry in your blog it is better to submit your sitemap to Google. This should help not only the indexing of your site but also helps Google crawl your site whenever you create new entries.

But what is a SITEMAP? According to WIKI, a SITEMAP is a representation of the architecture of a web site. It can be either a document in any form used as a planning tool for web design, or a web page that lists the pages on a web site, typically organized in hierarchical fashion. This helps visitors and search engine bots find pages on the site.

For wordpress blog hosted on their own domain, getting the sitemap for your blog is easy. There is a plugin for this -- GOOGLE SITEMAP GENERATOR. This plugin will generate a sitemap that is compatible not only with GOOGLE but also with YAHOO, MSN AND ASK.COM. After the sitemap is generated login to GOOGLE WEBMASTER TOOL and submit it.

For blogger blog you can refer to this instruction. Although as per my experience the said instruction created an error for my blogger blog hosted on its own domain. I am still on the lookout for the process that will work for me.

P.S. If you happen to submit a sitemap to GOOGLE WEBMASTER TOOLS for your blogger blog hosted on your own domain which yield successful, please advise me what you did. I would greatly appreciate it.

Blogging 101 : On site counters and site stats

thoughts of MiLeT @ Saturday, August 30, 2008 0 comments
One of the things that you might want to install in your blog is a site counter. Every since I started blogging, I always used SITEMETER. But there are other site counters out there. Its just I am more familiar with sitemeter. Hand in hand with sitemeter, I am also monitoring my blog’s performance via GOOGLE ANALYTICS. This tool by GOOGLE can tell a lot about your blog because it includes your blog’s BOUNCE RATE, SOURCE OF VISITS, UNIQUE VISITS etc.
But why do you need site counters? For me, except for the fact that I find joy in seeing that there are really people who came to visit my blog, I can analyzed my blog by the numbers my site counter gives me.

Example, in the past month I saw that there are a lot of Google searches for a certain article that I wrote in my blog. I got an idea of what keywords to use. I basked on the popularity of that keyword and now my other blog is averaging 100+ visits everyday. Following the lead from that word I was able to come up with succeeding articles that would appeal not only to my blogroll but to search engine as well.

Also there was a time when I saw a high bounce rate on my site due to search engines. I was thinking why it was happening, and then it came to me that maybe my blog is loading slowly. Putting myself in the shoes of those who search in search engine, I realized that people who used GOOGLE for example are in a rush and have no patience to wait for a blog to load. That’s the reason I changed my template into something that has not too many graphics and is simple. Because of this changed my bounce rate decrease.

You see if you know how to use the numbers your site counter is telling you, you can use it to your advantage.

Blogging 101 : The Blog Experiment

thoughts of MiLeT @ Saturday, August 30, 2008 0 comments
When I decided to create another blog four months ago, I told myself that I would apply every SEO tricks that I learned through internet research. I may not be an SEO expert but I understand the articles that I stumbled upon.

One of the first thing that I did which is based on an SEO article, is to come up with a short but catchy URL. My other blog have a very long URL which until now I regretted doing. Momiespace may not be that catchy but it sure is short.

At first my decision is to put my Asian drama reviews in here but I thought otherwise since the URL has a momie in it. So, it was best to have my mommy stuff here. And the other blog which from being a wife, being a mom title became dramas of my life because it has now the Asian drama reviews.

Once I have my blog up and running the next thing I did is to establish some back links. How did I do that? Well, one is through exchange link. But I found out that some bloggers are indifferent to new bloggers or bloggers that don't belong to their self created circle so I was somehow discouraged and stop the request for exchange link. What I did is that one I joined MOMMYFEST and after MommyFest, I do memes religiously in this site.

Because of MOMMYFEST, without submitting my URL, after two days my blog was already indexed in GOOGLE. Yeah, that fast. This was possible because of the back links I leave every time I comment on the participant's blog. This is the same theory in participating in MEME.

Almost all MEMEs have a blog of their own and those blogs have blogroll of the participants. If you participate on those meme regularly then you will be added in the blogroll which means an incoming link from a blog with PR. This would definitely boost your page ranking.

MQW8 - Things You Love the Most

The aim of these questions is to share opinions and experiences among moms (or dads) in the blogosphere.

Each week a new question will be posted and I’m inviting mom and dads to answer and share their thoughts about it.

If you are participating, leave your links in the comments section.
Link back momma stuff inviting other parents to join the fun.
Try to visit the other participants…you will love their answers, that’s for sure.

This week’s question is : What are the things you love the most about your kids?

{END COPY}

What I love most about Anevay ? Aside from the fact that she is my daughter, lol!, well, she is my trophy. A trophy that symbolizes the unconditional love that his father, my husband have showered me during the toughest and darkest moment of my life. She is my trophy who reminds me everyday how lucky I am to be taking care of her and seeing her grow.

Anevay is never a cry baby. Even when she is hurt, she would only cry for about five seconds but after that she is back to her smiling self. Maybe because as a mom, I don't pay much attention to her when she is crying when I know she only uses it to get what she wants.

Anevay is my little helper. She would help me tidy up our bed in the morning and would clean up her clutter everytime i say 'pack away'. Its one of the things that she learn from Tumble Tots.

Anevay knows how to say Thank You, Sorry and Please. She would say I LOVE YOU out of the blue and would kiss and hug not only me but her titos and titas and cousins.

Anevay is cordial towards people. She would say HI to anybody that we met in groceries and market.

Anevay knows the concept of praying. She says her night prayer by herself. And sometimes while playing you would hear her say Bless daddy, mommy, etc.

Anevay is never hard to take care. She never throw tantrums and plays by herself. Sometimes I am surprised by the things she knows. Like just today while browsing her book she was able to identify a xylophone and she now knows the letter R ( that's adding to the letters she now knows)

Anevay is my little composer. She can compose a song and sing it. At an early age, she can come up with a new lyrics. Like, there was this song in Noddy, which I am singing to her. Its like 'Dont give up, Anevay, you know its true'. Then I heard her singing to me, 'Don't give up,Mommy, you know its true'. There are some more songs she changes the wording to fit to her liking. lol.

Anevay is a mini me. But I think far greater than me. Her physical and mental features I think she would exceed mine.

And lastly Anevay is god's gift to us. That's what I love the most about her.

More thoughts about this on Mommastuff.

You're my Number One!

thoughts of MiLeT @ Thursday, August 28, 2008 1 comments
I am trying to be positive despite the fact that I am quite pissed off because I cannot access P3. To put me in the mood I'd like to share this song that is currently Anevay and mine's fave.

Lyrics :

"You're My Number One"

Look at me mom
Shining like the sun
Bright as the day
You're my number one

And there's no treasure
That i will cherish like you

And when i smile
They all see you glow
And they all know
You're my number one

My one and only joy
Is to give you my love

(bridge)
My one love for you
I give through and through
I see you and the signs that bring joy
That all the world can see so clearly

Look at me mom
Shining like the sun
Bright as the day
You're my number one

I think this is an old song, right ? But its really a sweet mother and daughter song. I love it.

Menu Planning

thoughts of MiLeT @ Wednesday, August 27, 2008 2 comments
One of the draining task that I have to do weekly is to plan our on our daily menu. I needed to list down at least five recipes
which I should be cooking for the week. Not to mention I need to go to the market to buy the ingredients.

Why is it draining you may asked ? Because most of the time, I run out of ideas on what to cook especially now that that little girl is transforming into a picky eater. She does not like anything with tomato sauce or anything with red color. I tell you I have limited choices when it comes to this. And that's the biggest challenge i have. Imagine everybody praising my corn soup while the little girl is shoving it away. That's frustrating, you know. It's a good thing she likes fried fish with sauteed veggies.

That's just one of the tough jobs a mom has to do.

I was not able to notice it till he pointed out something -- SALARY. And the amount is equal to $112 or Php 5190.

A MakeOver ?

thoughts of MiLeT @ Tuesday, August 26, 2008 0 comments
I am planning to go home in our house in Pampanga on the 1st of November. Its still three months from now but I need to plan the visit. Planning includes saving huge amount for the amortization not only of our lot but the whole compound which houses our maternal relatives.

But I know going home for a visit would not mean spending the night there. Since its only my mother's older sister who is living there our house was not really kept clean. And we don't have appliances there too. Now, I am thinking that after paying for the amortization, it would be nice to do the house repair. Our house have been showing signs of the wear and tear of the past years plus the fact that flood comes in and out of the house every rainy season. Remodelling should be done. After remodelling, we might get some discount furniture and some appliances.

This way we can stay for the night or even for days there. I miss our home. Truly miss it.

Feeling BLESSED!

thoughts of MiLeT @ Tuesday, August 26, 2008 0 comments
Everday, I feel my hair swaying on my shoulders. I feel blessed. As I stroke it with the hairbrush, i cannot help but remember six years ago when I nearly went bald. My hair kept falling. You'll know i went to that space because you'll see traces of my hair. Yeah, that bad. Now, I was given a chance by God to let it grow to this lenght without traces that it would fall soon. Wonderful isn't it ?

Plus the fact that my skin is blemish free. lol. NO rashes whatsoever. Not even a trace of acne. Who would have thought that the obessed me right now weighs 90+ kilos six years ago. But I'm telling you I am trying my hardest to shed off that excess pounds.

But really I am feeling blessed right now because of my hair. Believed it or not.

Ang aking Katangahan, BOW!

thoughts of MiLeT @ Monday, August 25, 2008 2 comments
Woke early today. Nde ko alam kung bakit pero 6 o clock nagising na ko and nde na ko makatulog ulit. So the usual routine, nag online ako kasi masama loob ko kasi for the first time since I started being active sa p3, kagabi lang ako nabokya. walang lumitaw na opps. ay meron pala pero gray na nung nakita.

Akala ko ganun din mangyayari ngaun umaga. Pero hopeful pa rin ako kasi most of the time ung mga morning opps malalaki ang value. And tama ako. Andaming nagbagsakan. As in. lahat nakaputi.

Waah! Katangahan to the max and to think na one year ko ng ginagamit to.

At 25 months

thoughts of MiLeT @ Monday, August 25, 2008 0 comments
Anevay turned 25 months last Saturday but I am too lazy to blog about it. But the pictures that I posted on my other entries can speak how she is right now. How I wish I have a recorder so that I can record how she talks right now. Super daldal!

But her current discovery of sentence now includes, Are you Okay ? lol. One time last week I got a little pain in my legs and she saw me in pain. She rushed over and ask me, Mommy, are you okay? I forgot the pain because of that. lol.

She even asked her Tita that question. They were all laughing when they hear her say that. Oh my. My little girl is growing up so fast.

Million Dollar Friend

Eds made my day and put a smile on my face because she gave me this award.

This is her reason why she gave me this award:

Milet of Momie Space for I like her the personality of her blog. Her views, her
cries and her laughs as a mother and as a survivor have somehow touched me in a
good way. After all the dramas in her life, I still see a very strong woman in
her.

Thanks sister, I am really grateful.
Now I am giving this to :
Ems, who right now is enjoying her trip to Singapore. lol. I'm just lucky to met her through blogging. She is one person I can talk to about my LUPUS because she too have that disease. I always feel that Ems is one of my faithful companion in my fight against lupus.
Mhay, we share a lot of common things together since her daughter and mine have the same age. Also we are struggling to keep our lives normal inspite the fact that our husbands are far away from home.
Mayeth, I know her personally and I know what she is undergoing right now. The stress, the pressure and the difficulties. But knowingher, she would still be able to be lively in the office.
Mari, I met her through blogging before she became pregnant and at that time I felt her strong faith. That's why I think God answered their prayers. And she is one excited mom!

Its PAYING off!

thoughts of MiLeT @ Friday, August 22, 2008 2 comments
Last night while my older sister was talking to me she made a quick glance on my tummy and gasp in surprised saying 'Tita Yet, mepayat na ka!' that's our local dialect kapampangan and the Tita Yet was what they call me eversince we had Luis in the family. It was him who called me Tita Yet first. Translating this in English it would be like this 'Tita Yet, you already loss some weight!'.

And so I was grinning from ear to ear. The 45 minutes walk/run in the treadmill is paying off. Actually before she said that I was already telling the hubby that I felt I lose weight especially in the tummy area. Seems to me that the tummy is shaping up.

Because of this I am motivated to run some more. Yehey!

My roommates and I once: console me when I was crying because I got homesick

Never in my life have I: drank alcoholic beverages

High school was: one for the books!

When I’m nervous: I talk to God to send me his Holy Spirit

My hair: badly needs rebonding. But I think that has to wait until december

When I was 5: I always say "When I grow up I want to be a doctor"

When I turn my head left: I can see Anevay playing happily

I should be: doing my 45 min run on the treadmil once the little girl is asleep.

By this time next year : I hope to have millions on our SA and a business on the side

My favorite aunt is: my papa's oldest sister.

I have a hard time understanding: the algorithm that G uses to determine you know what

You know I like you if: our conversation is longer that 10 mins.

My ideal breakfast is: fried rice with bacon

If you visit my home town: you will see evidence of the Mt. Pinatubo eruption

If you spend the night at my house: you might not want to leave! lol!

The animal I would like to see flying besides birds: UNICORN (hehe!)

I shouldn’t have been: sleeping late

Last night I: sleep at 12am again!

A better name for me would be: Romelette still

I’ve been told I look like: Anevay.

If I could have any carS, it would be: one minicooper, one 16 seater van and one SUV, or any brand new cars so that it would have problems with its ac compressor for a long time.

I woke up today with the thought "Wow, its Thursday already". Time really fly so fast and next week will be the last week for the month of August. When September comes, it start to buy those Christmas gifts already.

I remember when I was still employed my husband and I would be doing the scouting for cheap but personalized gifts for all the office staff. My husband would always tell me if only we have already a business of own, we can used those promotional pens as a Christmas gift.

Until now that's our dream. To give gifts with our business name embossed in it.

That has to WAIT!

thoughts of MiLeT @ Wednesday, August 20, 2008 0 comments
Eversince he come up with the idea of us going to Kuwait on the end of this year for three months, hubby and I always discussed our option and what's the best thing to do over YM. All the things should be discussed since a lot of things are to be done.

Actually our original plan is to us to get a residency visa to stay there for the duration of hubby's work. It might be for five years or for a lifetime. One of the reason why he wanted us to be there except of course for the fact that he wanted to have a complete family is that Anevay can enter American school and 80% of the tuition fee will be shouldered by his company. But unfortunately, because of my medical condition that plan was shoved off.

Now we are trying again, this time even if its only for three months. If this pushed through, then the luxury vacations that I am planning before the year end will also be scrapped. If we are going to Kuwait we need around 100k just for airfare alone. That's why I am doing everything I can to save, save, save.

But whether we are really going to Kuwait or not, the surest thing right now is hubby coming home for christmas for three weeks. And that's enough for me.

The ALPHABET Chart

thoughts of MiLeT @ Wednesday, August 20, 2008 0 comments
Ever since Anevay started talking she also started taking fancies on the alphabet. If she would see a letter she would point out the letter and randomly say the alphabet. Most often than not she ends up singing the alphabet song.

Way back when she turned one, I bought numbers, shapes and alphabet charts. She loves the number chart which has BARNEY, Baby Bop and Rif plus the shapes chart which has dora and boots. But unfortunately she is scared with her alphabet chart because of its dark color. The chart contains the characters from Lion King. I thought he would love it because she loves TIMON and PUMBA.

So I never posted it on the wall. And told myself to buy a new one. About two or three months ago we went to Powerbooks and I saw one alphabet chart and I was sure the little girl would love it. Want to know what the alphabet looks like ?

The little girl loves it. Actually she loves the Disney Princesses. She can now identify who is who from that chart. And she loves to just stand in front of the chart and just say ETO! To which she expect me to identify the letter she is pointing.

Now she can identify : W,X,Y, Z, S, A, O. And just last night when I asked her to point out letter O, she pointed out letter P and proudly say P. So that's add another one to the list of letters she can identify.

I'm FRUSTRATED!

thoughts of MiLeT @ Wednesday, August 20, 2008 0 comments
I was able to chat last night with hubby via YM. Although he is still busy but right now he have time to sit in his office and chat unlike the couple of weeks that he was so busy with the tournament their organization was holding.

While chatting with him I told him that I am irritated because I only see a slight decrease on my weight on the weighing scale. He told me to be patient. According to him it might not be obvious at first but the running will eventually pay off. And then he asked me if I had already bought the digital weighing scale I was planning to buy. I told him not yet. I wanted to have a digital weighing scale so that I can easily read my weight.

But really I am frustated. I really wanted to loss weight. But unfortunately eventhough I am running religiously on the treadmill, I am not discipline on my eating habits. I always end up consuming sweet. Hmp! Would taking Phentermine 37.5 mg helps ? Not yet, I think. I just need to run some more and as the hubby said 'be patient!'

For the love of BOOKS!

thoughts of MiLeT @ Wednesday, August 20, 2008 0 comments
The husband and I enjoy good books or any good reading material. You can leave us in a corner with a book on hand and you can be assured that after an hour or two we are still on that corner reading.

But now that we are parents we seldom have time to read book. Because he is busy with work while I am busy being a mother. But I think someone will be succeeding us in this hobby.

These are just some of Anevay's book in which she reads everyday. Yes! all this everyday. She does "picture reading". And you would be delighted to hear her identify the pics.

The two big books are Disney's storybook which contains all Disney characters. I bought those two in a store like BOOKSALE for Php 400 each. Anevay can identify most of the Disney characters.

But her most fave book is the GOODNIGHT THUMPER BOOK which I know memorized every line. I have been reading that book since she was one. lol.

These books are now helping her identify the letters in the alphabet.

I think I might be able to buy that SONY digicam next month with my earnings! Yahoo!

As an in between entry, let me post this WORDLE which I saw from Vannie's blog. Here's my wordle for MOMIESPACE.
Notice that one of the biggest word that appeared is ANEVAY and husband is beside it. Cute noh?

This week's theme/prompt is:

HEADS *OR* TAILS - Heads *Or* Tails

And since HoT is celebrating its ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY, I went to wordle and created this. I saw this one from Vannie and created my own for HoT. Here it is...

What I love about HEADS or TAILS ?

Heads or Tails is a Tuesday Meme which is being hosted by Skittles. I learned about it through the TheDailyMeme website. My first time to join HoT was in May 27 of this year. The week's prompt then was TAILS - Tell about your job (Or one you’ve had). And I have my entry posted on my other blog. Since then I look forward to doing HoTs every Tuesday because I love how the theme/prompt made me "think out of the box", as our host would say. It's a meme that focus on freeform, you can do what you want and share the meme's active participants. I also love how the bloggers that are participating in this meme support each other by checking out each others entry.

So I am proud to say that I am

Heads Or Tails

Happy One Year HoTTies! More HoTTies here!

...such a dull title. lol.

Last Saturday we went to my little girl's pedia for her shot. I wasn't able to take a pic of her since we were on a rush that I forgot my digicam and when my cellphone was lowbat.

As usual she is crying her hearts out in the clinic. But when we got home she was back to her energetic self. Its a blessing that she hasn't got the fever as an effect of the shot. But around 8pm, she might have consumed all her energy that she ended like this..

The next day we went to the grocery and she took fancy on the toy she saw. It cause less than $1 so I bought it. And here she is enjoying it.

I always do my rounds in the treadmill eveytime my little girl take a nap. But last yesterday while I was already running for 2 minutes I saw her coming out of our room. I stopped running and guess who replaced me ?

On the evening she saw a hanky and played with it by making up shapes like square, triangle and diamond. And then with my help the handkerchief was used this way...she is saying cheese.
Now she poses for another one.
